Winds of Fury, Circle of Grace

is a book written by Rev. Dale Clem

and is available for purchase at the church office.

“There’s been a call. Pull over and park.” With these words, Dale Clem’s story begins.
On Palm Sunday 1994, tornadoes swept through Piedmont, Alabama, as services were
under way at Goshen United Methodist Church. Twenty members of the worshiping congregation were killed. Among them was four-year-old Hannah Clem, the daughter of Kelly, the pastor of the Goshen church, and Dale, also a United Methodist pastor.
This book is the result of Dale Clem’s reflections throughout the year after what Reynolds Price calls the “scalding encounter with the greatest of mysteries—unearned suffering, the apparent punishment of the unquestionably guiltless.” It is a story of faith and the ever-widening circle of grace in the midst of tragedy and loss.
